The awarding of up to £900 million worth of enabling contracts for HS2 will be delayed by two months, it has been announced.

Whilst bidders were expecting to receive feedback by August, it became apparently in July that September had become a more realistic target. Updates in the construction press just this week have since revised that estimate to October.

A genuine revolution in the nation’s railways and a multi-billion pound project, this far reaching development will be divided up into three regions – North, Central and South – with the finished network running between Birmingham and London.

If the award of the enabling works has been delayed by two months, will this push back the award of the £11.8 billion civils packages that is currently expected in the Spring of 2017? Only time will tell.
