A planning application submitted by a Balfour Beatty Pinnacle Joint Venture has been approved by Woking Borough Council, giving the green light to the construction of 922 homes on the area’s Sheerwater Estate.

The plans, which have been worked on by Balfours since 2013, will see the construction, not only of new housing, but also of new road networks, community facilities and modern leisure facilities. Designed to rejuvenate the area, Woking Council’s Portfolio Holder for Strategic Development, David Bittleston, made it clear that he believes the new plans will see the area become both desirable and sustainable for years into the future.

He goes on to state his belief that the Council will continue on to approve implementation arrangements by the end of the year with construction activities commencing in the third quarter of 2017.

Based on current schedules, it’s estimated that the full scheme will be completed anywhere between early 2019 and late 2024. If final approval is given later this year the development will be worked in phases; the first of which will include almost 100 new dwellings as well as a cutting edge leisure centre.
