A professional engineering surveyor for over 20 years, Richard founded The City Surveys in 2003. He has overseen the organisation's metamorphosis from a humble surveying company to one of the UK's largest survey, monitoring and investigative engineering firms. Responsible for the strategic direction and financial stability of the company but taking a keen interest in every project. Richard is passionate about City Surveys, its people and its clients, investing significantly in the future success of all three.
Possessing a strong financial acumen, a motivational leadership style and an in depth understanding of its core markets, Richard continues to provide exceptional value to City Surveys.
Taking a significant interest in business development and client relations, Richard's strong communication and negotiation skills (backed up by two decades of engineering and surveying experience) is instrumental in generating the flow of high-quality, varied and interesting projects the company enjoys.
"The City Surveys deliver what I call a ‘comprehensive survey approach’ - a turnkey process that often sees our team involved right from the start, frequently even before a project really kicks off.
Amongst other things this approach means our clients no longer have to chop and change between contractors. Instead, all aspects of surveying, testing, investigation, design, planning and engineering can be covered by us. An efficient business model for us, the benefits to the client are every bit as significant as those to ourselves.
Not only do we provide a single, highly knowledgeable point of contact throughout, we also help reduce costly delays, cut overheads and eliminate potentially serious breakdowns in communication. Over the years our constantly evolving, innovative approach to both field operations and management has resulted in a far smoother, ultimately more economical and more positive working relationship than is experienced with many other surveying firms. That same approach has saved our clients thousands of man hours and millions of pounds in necessary works - something I think is borne out by the sheer quantity of repeat business we enjoy.
It goes without saying that none of this would be possible without the skill, time and dedication of The City Surveys team. They are a credit to themselves and the organisation and I am proud to be their Chairman."
